How to create this look

The hair was backcombed all over from ends back to roots for style support. Each section was sprayed with a gentle mist of Kms California Hair Stay Medium Hold Hairspray for hold. Sections around the crown were over-directed forward as they were backcombed and packed tighter to the roots for extra volume.

With a Mason-Pearson style bristle brush, the outside of the hair was gently brushed upwards from the hairline around the head and sprayed for hold and smoothness with the hairspray. Care was taken not to brush away too much backcombing or to make the hair look too perfect.
Next, the back was separated into two sections with the fingers and each was rolled into the middle from ends to roots to make a vertical pleat down the middle.

As these rolls were constructed, the hair fronm the front and top of the head was brushed into them. Hair was pinned with 3” bobby pins in a downward motion to secure. After the initial pinning, hands were placed on the pleat to flatten the rolls to the head shape and they were pinned further.
To finish, the tail of a tailcomb was used to lift up the hair on the crown and some simple surface brushing with a light jet of hairspray completed the look.
